Default SAF soldiers' IPPT likely to change from next year

No more 2.4km but 3.2km to be completed within same timing?

if people are struggling to pass the 2.4km at let's say 12 minutes, what makes you think that they'll increase the distance but keep the same timing?

Can't be same timing lo...Otherwise 99% of ppl will fail

On another note, back in 67 it was 4.8km

1967: National service begins. Physical fitness test includes running 4.8km in 30 min, and completing 9.6km in 70 min while wearing the skeletal battle order.

Anyway, I no more NS liability, paid back in full what is owed. Just wish those 保重.... for those who think cannot make it, get permanent excuse by hook or by crook, or keep attending IPT/RT...

I rather run shorter distance than 800m more.. If endurance test, might as well make it 5km instead.. n scraping sbj because many r failing the station, doesn't sounds right.. just saying

i imagine the scenario where soldiers need to leap across a 1m gap... and they all fail

i mean, what if they stop the SBJ for good, and none of the NSF/NS Men can leap across 1m?

I wonder what will be the standard for push ups. normal, diamond or spider pushup :? then the back and the legs must form a str8 line without arching? ;?

This is in line with the new statistics that we are smaller, shorter and lighter hence take less energy to run further while Singapore girls are growing stronger and bigger:

They scrape away a station that many can pass.. but increase the station that many failed on... (2.4km which is usually a killer for many)

just saw this at another forum

they going to re-categorise IPPT for NS men (only). meaning active + regulars will have a standard, NS men will have a standard.
(active) is remove sbj and increase 2.4 to 3.2.
NS men removed sbj and 2.4 increase to beep test. those who play soccer will be familiar with the beep test. basically is more of a burst power rather than endurance.

info is based on those participating in the trial. true or not u will see very soon.
beep test should be easier rite

Why not? Increased efficiency has been the mantra of your government for quite a while already

It's not about increased efficiency. It's about increased stamina following the alarming fall of national birth rate.

We think Singapore alpha male has been weak and under-performing in this area.

If he can run faster and longer, he can "stand" longer.
