Default Windows 8.1 available for download

    Hi,
If your computer OS is Windows 8, you may want to download and update to Windows 8.1

To review what are the changes, can refer to http://reviews.cnet.com/microsoft-windows-8-1/

Quite strange, at first when I click update on the store, encounter some error.
But at night seem the windows automatically update for me.
1 feature that I think is good, the start icon screen allow you to have 3 options: small, medium and wide, previously only medium and wide.

Windows 7 is good, but I don't think Windows 8 is unusable la. Just takes getting used to.

Windows 8 requires a slight bit of relearning to do, but nothing insurmountable. Actually after a while I quite like it, and I will probably like it more after the patch.

Thanks for the updating on update

One more good thing, when you start your windows in desktop instead of start menu.

I for one love the new Start thingy that Windows 8 has. I hardly used 80% of the programs in the ol' Start Menu.

Oh, you aren't as ancient. Otherwise, i'd see the term "nostalgic" there.

Kind of beats digging through the start menu or just throwing a few things into the quick start section though... The first is not efficient, the second is often not enough..

The new approach is kind of closer to Mac's Quick Launch (which of course some companies emulate, e.g. Dell Dock).

Every second OS release of M$ is .. less good as they think. Let's wait for the next release, Win7 is pretty well made.

I am using Asus AIO ET2300INTI-i&, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, I see a watermark at the bottom right screen "Secure Boot isn't configured correctly. Build 9600." for the past few days.

Seems to be a common issue and others issues as well. Check this link http://news.idg.no/cw/art.cfm?id=981...ECF6FE948E0412

However realised the watermark no longer appears (as of now) even though I did not do anything. Hope it stays this way.

One good experience from this upgrade though, previously my wireless adapter frequently lost connection, but since the upgrade, the connection has stabilised.

I think Windows 8 is decent. My main gripe is just having to go into the tiled screen to look for apps. I would really have preferred having a more easily accessible Programs button.

The ultimate key to performance increase is....a SSD. Heh. The new Windows is really not paying extra for if you already have Windows 7.

I really hate Windows 8 haha. If there is an option to buy new laptop with Win 7 instead, I will.

Ask for debundling of license and hardware. Or order online. Install your own Win7 (available from SLS).
