Default Pano in Australia

Hi peeps,

Went on a one week holiday in Australia sometime in April to visit my girlfriend. Took like over a thousand photos. It was my first time there. Posting some of my favourite pano pics.

In Kiama: The place is really beautiful. I was rather stunned by how blue the sky was. I could just sit there for hours doing nothing but admire the landscape.

Wollonggong beach: The most quietest beach in Wollonggong. Very windy. My girlfriend and I spent time lunching in. We had the whole place to ourselves.

The Blue Mountains: I really missed that place. Its a cold place and the people are really friendly. I didnt get to spend much time there but I think I am going there again sometime near future.

cheers!

PS: I am using a 300D with kit lens. All shots were taken using a tripod. Hours were wasted on post-processing on Photoshop.

More pics can be found here:

You should mate! After being in that place for a week, I realised how stressed life is in Singapore compared to there. I am going there again to de-stress. Cheers!

Ah yes. Took a train from Sydney to Wollonggong once. I did just that. Sit and stare at nature for hours. Nice quiet place.

You're damn right about that. And the train rides.... really breathtaking. But I guess the people who lives there couldnt be bothered. Anyway, Wollonggong is a really good place to have peaceful time.

#1 yeah I could see that. My cloning skills is really terrible when it comes to patching the horizon.

#2 I tried both... somehow the black & white strikes me the most. will post up the color version.

Thank you for the lovely comments. Cheers!

welcomed

one problem with cloning the water is the repetitive texture that becomes a visible pattern, you can try to use different methods of stitching the gap.

if the edges overlap can try to erase with soft brush in an irregular way and then clone whatever is needed using different parts of the water, with different opacity and using the soft round brush also. hope you get what i mean

usually when i take this kind of pano i give more overlapping allowance so that i have more material to work on in PS when stitching.

how are proper panos done? by setting up a tripod and paning and taking several pictures or taking a picture and then resetting the tripod at the next location and taking a picture?

I could see some tilting on #3, otherwise, captured a dramatic mood with heavy on-coming clouds.

FYI, I was at the Blue-Mountains one autumn morning at about 5am, waiting for the Sun to rise behind the 3 sisters... and in the process braving sub-zero temperatures... but I manage to see what most pple missed out... the reason why Blue mountains was called Blue Mountains.

As the sun rises, a sea of fog will be visible in the valleys of the mountains, which will slowly disappear in about an hour. This sea of fog, is Blue in colour (because of Eucalyptus trees emission).. and hence where the name comes from.

Disclaimer: Above explaination was what I heard from an Australian and may differ from what others have heard.

Haha.. Yes, reminds me.. The guide told us when I was at Blue mountains as to why it is blue. But when I came back, my collegaue thinks its just nonsense.. Which mountain doesn't look bluish from afar? After hearing that, I think eh, it kinda made sense huh...

There's some fable on the 3 sisters too. I've heard of 2 different versions. I guess such stories make people remember the places better.

Can always visit there again...

I guess we always miss places we visit, esp if the experience is a nice one. If u like Sydney and Woll, I'm sure you will go ga-ga when u visit the mountains in Switzerland, etc. No joke. U can stay up there for days, not hours. I always thot those guys who live in such places are so lucky.
