looks like baros is really being let go. he didn't play again. he's one of those players i'm not sure about. he's a good gaolscorer and for that i think we should keep him. at the same time, he seemed irritatingly unwilling to change his head down and chiong style of play. i think his refusal to move now is probably mainly because only the smaller teams had been interested.
I beg to differ. Did you see the goal he created for Morientes in the olimpiacos friendly?

didn't watch that one. but i remembered he set a nice one up for mellor last season immediately after rafa spoke to him but as the season goes on, he went back to his head-down approach. hopefully if he stays he'll mature then. he has the potential to be a great player. otherwise he could be a liability. anyway, so far so good but we still need a central defender and a right winger. dunno if we have the cash for both or even one of these. figo deal is looking dead. good thing is that whitbread is looking alright. and potter wasn't too bad on the right was he?

Potter is ok only... most of liverpool's play goes down the left thru Zenden who impresses me with the work rate...

Most players played well in the match... CD a bit slow in this match, resulting in the goal as well as a few close shave... I am now more convinced that we need cover for Hyypia... he seems to be so slow now...

first of all...friendly did not count. At least not in the stats.

2ndly, I lost count on the number of occasion Heskey had set up Owen to score. But then until now..lots of liverpool fans still think that Heskey is a flop.

Baros had only set up eerrr...how many good master peice for other to score ?? I can even count with my fingers..

Potter is ok, similiar to Whitebread. Both have potential. Not sure Rafa can bring out their talent to a real good player.

actually since last season..we knew that we need another CD to cover Hyypia and Carra. Did u just mention about Hyypia being slow ?? Then how come Rafa get a 33 yeard old man, who was even slower than Hyypia to cover Hyypia ??

btw....Villa sold Vasell for 2.7m. So now it is expected that they will increaset their intial bid form 5m to 7m to meet LFC asking price for Baros. I seriously dun think Baros will be any more a PFC player. We would have the 7m to finance the purchase of a CD..Upson , Gallas Either one is good.

FYI, attached is the up-todate Liverpool trasnfer (for this summer), we are weakening in terms of numbers of players.....whether we are strenghening in terms of quality...Let see end of season where are we in the EPL table ?

    IN:
Peter Crouch - 24-year-old England striker from Southampton for 7m, on a four-year deal.*
Mohamed Sissoko - 20-year-old French born Malian midfielder from Valencia for 5m.
Boudewijn Zenden - 28-year-old Dutch midfielder joins on a free transfer from Middlesbrough.
Jose Reina - 22-year-old Spanish goalkeeper joins for 6m from Villarreal.
Antonio Barragan - 18-year-old right-back joins from Sevilla after rejecting a new deal at the Spanish club.
Mark Gonzales - 21-year-old Chilen international midfielder joins from Albacete.

    OUT:
Chris Kirkland - 24-year-old goalkeeper on a season-loan loan to West Brom.
Igor Biscan - 27-year-old Croatian midfielder to Panathinaikos on a three-year contract after being released by Liverpool.
Gregory Vignal - 24-year-old defender to Portsmouth on a two-year deal for free.
Bruno Cheyrou - 27-year-old French midfielder to Bordeaux on a one-year loan with a view to a permanent move.
Alou Diarra - 24-year-old midfielder to Lens on a four-year contract. Diarra, never played a first-team match for Liverpool, spent last season on loan with Lens and also had loan spells with Le Havre and Bastia.
El-Hadji Diouf - 24-year-old Senegal striker who signs four-year contract with Bolton after a successful loan spell ended in a permanent switch for an undisclosed fee.
Mauricio Pellegrino - 33-year-old Argentinian former Valencia defender, who was signed on a six-month deal in January - released to join Alaves.
Vladimir Smicer - 32-year-old Czech winger leaves on a free transfer for Bordeaux after six years at the club.
Ritchie Partridge - 24-year-old former Republic of Ireland U-21 winger released.
Jon Otsemobor - 22-year-old right-back who has had spells on loan at Bolton and Crewe - released.
Mark Smyth - 20-year-old midfielder released.
Patrice Luzi - 24-year-old French*goalkeeper released after just one appearance.
Paul Harrison - Reserve goalkeeper released without playing a single senior game.

Potter is actually a central midfielder so i think he did pretty well so far on the wings. but of course, his crossing and ball skills are not up to scratch compared to a real winger.
agree with you. Hyypia is looking vulnerable. A CD is definitely needed at least as cover but possibly as a replacement. our defence had been conceeding quite a few goals.

Don't understand what you saying by friendly does not count. The thing is, Baros has show us in that friendly that he is able to set up for other people to score as well.

Heskey set up for Owen to score. But there are many times Heskey kena tackled then fall onto ground and loses the ball also.

Had Crounch scored for Liverpool ? Read LFC...Crouch had not opened scoring for LFC.

Of course u can argue..but he scored in the friendly wat.. yes u can argue. but the official stats did not take into account.

Again..i look at what had been achieved and not by what had not been achieved.

I admire the photographers who win an award..but not look at how many crappy pic he had click on the shutter before he finally had an award winning pic.

as long as a player is effective and score, assist on goal...we dun mind him falling down..

May be falling down easily is part of the strategy for him to score 15 goals a season average for 4 seasosn..

I would rather to have a striker who could fall donw easily and score 60goals for 4 season ( ( and probably with 60 assist on goal for the same period of time) rather than striker who dun fall down but only scored 30 goals for 4 seasons and having less assist on goal.

heskey is crap. although he had been consistently dong that for 4 years..yet lots of LFC claim that "so wat..he fell down easily.."

baros is god , because he showed us he can also do that in "ONE MEANINGLESS FRIENDLY MATCH".

    pls refer to here.

Liverpool Scorers (for this season) as of 27 July 2005 according to FA.
    Steven Gerrard, 5
    Djibril Cisse , 1

But...Baros scored 2 in friendly and Crouch aslo scored in friendly.

What the friendly does not take into account (official stats) ?

FA has their reason for not counting in.
U may have your own reasons for taking the friendly statst into acc.

But the world follows FA (FIFA, UEFA) rule as they are in football governing body rather than to follow personal view from IT industry, student, photographer, Engineerer...etc.

I don't think Heskey was consistent throughout the 4 years.

I don't see how you can compare scientific experiments with football.

going by your logic, Baros has scored wonderful goals and created wonder goals also..
Baros was top scorer in Euro also..
    so..?

Yah if we follow everything completely by stats... Martejan Ketzman would have been EPL top scorer last season liaoz..

I also dun see how u can use "number of times fall down" to judge whether a striker is a good layer or not. I tot the rest of us and even the football professional based on "number of goals-scored" ???

Yes..that is Euro 2004, while he was in Czech player. I am no doubt he is a good Czech player. but he is not a Liverpool player, who played up to his standard.

based on your logic for "baros to be Top scorer in Euro must be good Liverpool player"...then Rossi and SheisLazi must be damn good juventus players after both of them being as a world cup golden boot player ??

Somemore, he is the only liverpool player in the squad who always mourn that he should have signed for other club and regret that the deal did not go through. We need player who fight for us with his soul and heart. Even if u are not so royal to the club, then keep quiet loh..

he had been with us 4 seasons. ok half a seasons he broke leg.
then we look at the 3 seasons. DId he manage to outscored heskey ? 15 goals in average a season (total 45, Mind u again, friendly not counted)

    a) if Baros scored 45goals in 3 seasosn, then he is a flop. SInce heskey scored 15 goals a season in average is also a flop to u, baros must be a flop too

    b) if baros scored > 45 goals in 3 season...no need to discuss..we all know that he did not manage to do do

    c) if baros scored <45goals in season...then he is a more flop than heskey..may be crap.

u may argue..but he did not play much ? yes..loser always use this to counter.

but then again...think about it in a manager view...if u are a good striker..why the manager did not give u more games to play ?

if u are on the bench..and did not play much..the reasons are because u are simply not fit , not versatile enough to suit every games, and simply not good enough to play.

As i have mentioned to you countless time, he bought Pelle in Jan, when he has no option. Pelle at least is familar with his style so he do not need to coach him much and can understand each other. Is he the best option? Prob not... but he's available for free and played for Rafa... Also, Rafa may have an idea of Pelle not that great, thats why he did not sign him beyond last season....

Vasell i think was sold for 2.5m and according to report, O'leary have 9m budget so shd be ok to spend 7m on Baros... however, Doug Ellis is extremely stingy so i won't have high hopes..... Looks like figo may still join us and i do wish we sign either Upson, Gallas or Milito.....

    IN:
Peter Crouch - 24-year-old England striker from Southampton for 7m, on a four-year deal.* Good to Very good - I'll say he will be a moderate success, i expect at least 15 goals from him overall, EPL & CL.
Mohamed Sissoko - 20-year-old French born Malian midfielder from Valencia for 5m. High Potentional - Most likely sub for Gerrard or Alonso. He seems to have the similar type of build as Veira but hey, we all knew what happened to the next Zidane, don't we? So dun put too much expectation...
Boudewijn Zenden - 28-year-old Dutch midfielder joins on a free transfer from Middlesbrough. Excellent - Of all signing, he's the most experienced and consistent so far. I expect him to play on right or left wing (right if we don sign Figo or when Kewell is off and running). Expect some goal contribution.. maybe 5-8 goals, but shd have quite a fair bit of assist.
Jose Reina - 22-year-old Spanish goalkeeper joins for 6m from Villarreal. Very good - Came with high recommendation and pedigree... Looks commanding when he plays... Should be good signing.
Antonio Barragan - 18-year-old right-back joins from Sevilla after rejecting a new deal at the Spanish club. Potential - Probably will play more only if Josemi is sold. Given that Josemi played this morning, likelihood is he will play not more than 10-15 games. One for the future.
Mark Gonzales - 21-year-old Chilen international midfielder joins from Albacete. Apparently best Chilean international now... prob will feature more in cup runs and if any strikers/att midfielders get injured.

    OUT:
    GK
Chris Kirkland - 24-year-old goalkeeper on a season-loan loan to West Brom. Patrice Luzi - 24-year-old French*goalkeeper released after just one appearance.
Paul Harrison - Reserve goalkeeper released without playing a single senior game.
Improve - a season out on loan will prob be good for Kirkland as long as he stays injury-free. Reina more than make up the losses of the goalkeepers.

    Defenders
Gregory Vignal - 24-year-old defender to Portsmouth on a two-year deal for free.
Mauricio Pellegrino - 33-year-old Argentinian former Valencia defender, who was signed on a six-month deal in January - released to join Alaves.
Jon Otsemobor - 22-year-old right-back who has had spells on loan at Bolton and Crewe - released.
No change/improve - Pelle, as you mentioned is too old, Vignal and Otsemmbor never get to play for so long, prob not good enough anyway. Antonio Barragan shd be better than Otsemobor or Vignal. If we sign another CD like Upson or gallas, i would say we have strengthened.

    Midfielders
Igor Biscan - 27-year-old Croatian midfielder to Panathinaikos on a three-year contract after being released by Liverpool.
Improve - Signing Zenden is already an improvement as far as i am concerned, more than make up the loss of Biscan. Cheyrou cannot make it already but Alou Diarra may be a loss since he managed to break into french national team. But i figured Sissoko shd be good enough to replace Diarra, since Diarra also don't play for us.... and he;s 4 years younger...

    Attackers
Vladimir Smicer - 32-year-old Czech winger leaves on a free transfer for Bordeaux after six years at the club.
Ritchie Partridge - 24-year-old former Republic of Ireland U-21 winger released.
Mark Smyth - 20-year-old midfielder released.
El-Hadji Diouf - 24-year-old Senegal striker who signs four-year contract with Bolton after a successful loan spell ended in a permanent switch for an undisclosed fee.
Improved a lot - Well, first of all, Cisse, pongoelle, Morientes,La Tallec all shd improve this season. Plus Crouch, which i think will be good signing. If we add in Mark Gonzalez and maybe Figo, we shd have a formiddable attacking midfielders and strikers...

I don't wish to debate on this. most pple will know about Heskey's consistency. i don't know why u even want to bring out Henry.

I also dun see how u can use "number of times fall down" to judge whether a striker is a good layer or not. I tot the rest of us and even the football professional based on "number of goals-scored" ???
You are judging Baros by the number of times he failed to provide a pass.

I didn't create that logic. If it sounds that way, it was because you mentioned stats are important.

GH insisted on playing Heskey. Yah GH got sacked too.

where is the official stat that Ketzman was EPL top scorer ?

btw...if u dun based on stats..then nothing can be discussed.

Why chelsea was last season EPL champion ? They had the highest poins. The point is recorded as the cumulutaive stats of each match over the entire season.

if u dun based on stats..I would say that Mellor is the EPL best striker, Southampton is the best EPL team. Brazil currentyl rank the 1st in FIFA world ranking hwo had won 5 times world cup is no one...singapore is the best team in the world..

I have more money than Bill Gates..Fiji is the strongest economy in the world (the stats of GDP does not count)....

Personal opinion is subjective.....Stats and facts is conclusive.
