I have just talked to the Epson Sales rep at the Funan IT mall. The RRP of the Epson is S$938.

It is available from today, 20/05/05 from
1) South Asia Computer, Funan.
2) Cathay photo
3) Skylet, Sim Lim Square
4) Global IT, Sim Lim Square

I bought my Epson P2000 at the South Asia Computer, Funan and the price was S$888.

HTH.

The Epson P2000 came with firmware 2.02.

I bought an Archos 4 in 1 CF adapter from Memory World for my Memory Stick Pro and it is good to go for transfer with the P2000.

I've to agree that the Epson screen is great.

I've used the Compactdrive PD7X and it did not give me peace of mind as I could not see or verify the photos that I've stored in it.

went to check the device out and must say the 640x480 screen looks gorgeous and much better than the 320x240 on the archos.
but device a bit bulky, almost like the size of my xdrive pro (not so thick).
to the new and proud owners, how is the trf rate say for a 1gb CF card? how is the sound quality for MP3? is there a bundled software to convert VCDs or DVDs into MP4 format?

It doesn't come with a video converter like most PSP. However there are many free programme to convert video.

The MP3 is displayed like a thumbnail view but the sound through the earphone is a bit soft.

any ideas what setting to encode the video in to maximize the video quality?

I am using an IMAC G5 and I encoded it to mpeg 4 MOV, with 1500 kbs. Looks so so but see a lot of pixelization sometimes. using ffmpegx to encode.

Just come back from Ruby. Got 1 for $888.00 (incl GST).

Their price very firm as they know it's very new and out-of-stock everywhere.

They still have 1 last piece (display unit).

Get it there if u want.

just realised that the P2000 is only 262k colors compared to the PSP which is 24 bit, 16 mil colors

wonder why the colors display is so little?

does the P2000 handle adobeRGB properly? wonder how accurate is the colors display...

I really don't think that such devices are meant to have dead on accurate colours. Afterall, it's main purpose is for you to store images. The viewing is just to let you rest your mind that the images are safely stored.
