    Hi guys, the 2 photo are indentical, less the soft filter of cause.

    No filter


    with soft filter


    Will PS give better softening effect?
    photography makes one sees things from all angles.

    Depends on your preferences actually. This is what I did with PS



    But the image is a bit soft to begin with?

    Thanks knoxknocks.

    I have tried softening before but I get what you are getting, halos (wrong spelling?). Its not the kind of softening I am looking for.

    Also, the blue & yellow had glow so much I find it distracting.

    Anyway easy action in PS to get the effect I get from using the soft filter?

    but those are not the effect not i am looking for.

    I just want softening, not the glowing effect.

    oh i c. duplicate 2 layers. On the bottom layer, set gaussian blur to about 3.5. Top layer, set opacity to about 80-85%. can trial and error and see if produces the effect u want. good luck!

    Hi Dennis,

    Saw your thread on this.

    I have a B&W Soft Lens, the one with lots of micro sized lenses on the surface. Very interesting effect.

    It's supposed to be a lower version of the Zeiss Softar.

    Let me know if you want to try it.

    Thanks, I will be shooting this saturday @ Har Par Villa, you want to join in the fun? Can try out you filter. I borrowed 1 grade 2 (I was told there are different grade of softenning effect) soft filter from a friend.
