yes...EF-S (for digital Cams) lenses (white dot) do not fit into EF lens mounts (red dot)..

350D kit lens is a digital lens EF-S mount. And EOS 50 should be EF mount.

Yea, you won't be able to fit it in cos EF-S got an additional rubber piece at the rear.... unless... of course, u modify it...

when mounted, EF-S lens is closer to your sensor of dslr (equivalent to film in the slr). with the extra protrusion that brings the lens close to your sensor makes the lens can't be fit to the film slr (which has larger mirror)
film slr - bigger area (your film) for light exposure --> need larger mirror --> more distance for mirror clearance for the mirror to flip up dslr - smaller sensor area --> smaller mirror --> enable EF-S lens to be designed closer to the mirror (main purpose is to make the lens closer to the sensor) reason for closer distance --> reduce light reflected from the sensor surface |

hey this is a stupid question but
with the ef-s 18-55mm right on the 1.6x crop camera its still 28-88 right? |
