thanks. when i first learnt to play, Carbonex was the best and i haven't kept up on Yonex marketing, umm technology....

Do you know what happened to the Carbonex line, eg: Carbonex 8, 9 , 10 (the classics ), what are they replaced by?

Another thing - shoes - for casual players, any recommendations... how about cross-trainers so can use for other things...?

Am at beginner level at the moment. For racquet, using Carbonex 10 SP which I like very very much.
Where did you buy AS30 for $25? that's too expensive.
I used to buy AS40 from Bras Basah shop for only $20.

IHMO, the right shoes are important too, used to play with running shoes, but when i switched to cheapo Yonex badminton shoes, can really feel the diff, got more grip, support when running ard the court.......

usually badminton shoes are not too expensive if you are not so particular about the design..heh.... i dun .. coz i dun wear it other than playing badminton...heh

Get a pair of cheap badminton shoes, normal running shoes or cross trainers are not really designed for badminton. They're higher than badminton shoes, and are not really good for the sudden lunge and run when playing badminton. It's also easier to sprain your ankle wearing running shoes/cross trainer, not to mention the lower grip compared with badminton shoes.

Oh.. forget to mention, using a running shoe will KILL your running shoe faster than ever too!!!

Too much stop and twist and turn... I killed one pair of running shoe this way.....

Haha, I killed every single pair of my running shoe playing badminton. Usually after each game I'll have to go back and reglue the sole.
