Discuss the new R2400, Pro 4800/7800/9800 printers in this thread.
---------------- Epson has announced their latest innovations in inkjet printing with the new Stylus Photo R2400 A3 printer, and the Stylus Pro 4800, 7800 and 9800 series of large format printers. All the new printers will utilise EPSON ULTRACHROME K3™ inks which provides wide color gamut and superior black & white output with high print permanence ratings. The R2400 replaces the current R2200 and will be targetted at serious amateurs as well as professional and fine art photographers. The Pro 4800, 7800 and 9800 series are replacements for the 4000, 7600 and 9600 printers and will be targetted at professional and fine art photographers who require large format printing. In addition, technical advances in the 7800 and 9800 series brings its print speed up to par with the 4800 (as compared to the 7600/9600 which although using the same printheads, were comparatively slower than the 4000). More details can be found at :- Epson USA News and Announcement Site Luminous Landscape Preview of the new Epson ULTRACHROME K3™ printers Fine art photographer Joseph Holmes' (beta tester) impression of the new printers ----------------------------- |

Another preview can be found at Photo-i UK. Vincent, the owner of the site will be doing his interactive review where readers can send him email on questions about the printer as he goes along reviewing the printer.

Nice thing is that since I'm in the US now, I should be able to get my hands on one (R2400) sometime soon. I'll just have to make sure to use a transformer when back in Singapore.
But having owned 2 previous generations of Epson A3 sized printers, my thought is that I don't really print that much A3 pages, so perhaps it is a bit of under-utilisation in my case. Some of you guys may print sufficiently to warrent owning one. I always wondered if there are shops where I can pay (a reasonable fee) to do a few prints on the larger formats since it would be nice sometimes to have an A2 print. Or better still for high end comsumers like you guys who will provide prints for a fee on a private arrangement. That'll help offset some of your large initial hardware investments. |

For those who wants to see the results of this new range of pro printers, you can see them at this exhibition. The team used the 4800 together with arguably the best paper from Hahnemühle.
