Default Orchid 5 - Last Samurai

I shot this weeks ago when it was a full spray. It struck me that the single orchid, with its wavy petals, looked liked a samurai helmet with their battle decorations. Its obviously lost its battle with nature, and this one is the last man standing.

I used a different exposure technique (compared to my normal) to capture the sombre mood. Slide came out exactly as I envisioned it. What you have here is the original photo, with no PS except sharpening to compensate for the JPEG conversion, and resizing.

If I recall, it was f8.0. Plant was in its original location, so DOF to throw out the background.

Spot on the white and dropped shutter by about 1.5 stops under. Good luck. I just suck harder

(corrected for 1.5 stops)

Sharing an attempt at reframing the original. CW rotation to create a diagonal and tighter crop.
