Telling people you are a newbie is a defensive bullying.

    It's a form of shadow kick-boxing. It's a tactical attack posture.

Even those who appear as nice guys and ask innocent questions are gentle bullies because they attack you on your soft sides.

You don't know you are being bullied because they throw soft punches and they don't hurt.

Well, I dunno really how to define myself but I have seem many acclaim "Pros" in this forum who know many techincal aspect and logical terms of cameras and can't produce a decent quality pics. I don't know what level I am, it's up to the viewers who judge me not I myself.

I used to use film p&s for a long time so I should be Baby as I still dunno what is shutter, aperture.

Then i shifted to DSLR and picked up some tippers from some experts here, so maybe now can say I am Newbie.

But I have been in DSLR for quite a while also, can I say i am an Explorer as I THINK i am midst of creating my own style

But my friends dont THINK so, so should I declare as Halfling?!

By now, I would like to see myself a Veteran...I have already established my own style...[of crap ahem].

I could be a Specialist too you know as I am really into a specialised area of photography..trading stuff on CS!

I tried my hands in my personal photo scrapbook and tried teaching my baby nieces and nephews (and their mothers) how to hold a camera properly, so i LIKE to think I am like Master Yoda.

However, i did so much trading and preaching that i begin to suspect if I am losing touch with the act of photography itself [like doing this now]...a Loser?!

Finally my life partner thinks that i am spending so much time in this that this whole affair of mine should be Retired, and just keep it as some VERY casual hobby.

Pls help me choose one option only. I am lost!
hmmm... seems like all you have to do is to select all the options... lolz

Yes.That's quite true..there are some who can express themselves with beautiful shots then when ppl ask them, they are at a loss as to how to explain.

So what are these guys ?

    Equipment not = to newbie.

I saw some websites of very nice photos taken with compact camera. Technically, they may not match high end SLR but in terms of artistic talent, they are surely the guru.

All the Newbie go outing with Master Yoda, then we become youngling and learn from the Master

Personally, I feel that photography cannot be learned or mastered. It is UNDEFINED (except for commercial). It is a way of the photographer to express himself. It is through experience that we develop our eye.
