    Default PLAYING MUSIC AT COMPANY'S FUNCTION

    I was told that is illegal to play music even in private function within a function room.

    Any help?

    Not illegal but just copy right issue. Just pay licence fee if the function room you book.

    It helps to be precise. What is the definition of 'public' and 'private' in the respective copyright laws? Any specific mentioning about locations (e.g. own household) and audience (e.g. own family)?
    If in doubt, hire an MC, it's his job to do the legal paperwork.

    Music Permit

    CORPORATE FUNCTIONS (Eg: D&D, Proms, Dance Parties, etc, Held In Hotel Ballrooms)

    50 cents per person, subject to minimum charge of $250 per function

    * Kindly ensure that all applications are received by our office at least 2 weeks prior to commencement of the event. Do note that payment has to be received by our office at least 3 working days prior to event commencement.

    Play patriotic songs of Singapore ..... I think that's definitely legal ....I am quite sure you will enjoy them too ......

    or you could just get the license for this one song, and play it back throughout
