Hi all, D70 + kit lens often gives slightly underexposed and soft images when using the camera default setting. Do you prefer to correct the images with photoshop later, or install a different custom curve in your D70 so that the images come out pleasant straight away and save the trouble?
If you are the latter, can you share which curve give u the best result? Will using the curves lead to sacrifice of highlight/shadow details? Thanks in advance for your advice to a newbie ![]() |

Depends on how you define the curves, every pull/push you make on the graph will give you different results.
A near S-curve would be ok, do note the shades/colour changes when you adjust the curve, when it hits the limit, it's time to pull back a bit. ![]() |

Thanks all for the response. Wow, a very informative link. Do you use any of these curves? Some are a bit overdone though...

loaded a curve to my d70 .. I am shooting in RAW.
But then I don not see any difference as in before an after. why ? |

Did you choose the correct setting? Under "Tone Comp", choose "custom".
