Default E-300 with FL-36

I find that the best settings to use E-300 (or may be E-1) with FL-36 is:

1. Programe Mode (P)
2. Auto ISO

Especially in bounce mode or with a reflector or softbox. The lower GN power of FL-36 is best complemented by the camera automatically pushing ISO to compensate for the flash limitation.

With this setup, I avoided many under exposure shots, which previously was really a frustration.

i like to use mine in manuel mode, leave at 1/60 and control dail on aperture.
i also find using the in-built flash together with bounce gives better results.
actually the fl-36 quite powerful esp with only 2 AA batts, imo the recharge time is the weaker link...

Hi yk,

I also encounter noise issues when shooting using the 400~800 ISO range with the E-1 & FL-50.

Thus using higher ISO's, one has to ensure sufficent illumination.
Else u will end up with very high noise, eps in the shadow areas.

chii,

Right, ISO800 and beyond is a bit grainy, but in P-Mode, the Auto ISO will only be cranked up to 400 only.

Strangely, without flash, even if you set to Auto ISO, it'll stick to 100. The Auto ISO seems to work with flash only.

Also, in Auto ISO with flash, we get to see those intermediate level, such as ISO 160, 250, 320 etc.

hmm,this is new..

anyway I like to shoot bounce, my settings are typically

-auto/ttl auto
-iso -200~400 depending on lighting
- Fstop-4
- S-1/100 or 1/125

with this setting I get most of my shots right.

kind of coincidence that you guys mentioned about this cos i was playing with my flash for the entire day.

settings for fl-36:

for near shoot <3m
DIY bounce card with flash w/wide panel in straight position.
ttl auto
speed - auto
aperture - F7.1-F11
iso 100

for far shoot >3m
flash in that direction of shoot
tl auto
speed - auto
aperture - F7.1-F9
iso 100-200

--------------

was trying to see whether it has the auto flash function when taken out of the hotshoe.
