Default Hotshoe oxidisation?

i got a d70 and sb800. i remember some advice here about bending back the hotshoe on the camera once in a while so that the flash would be a tigher fit. anyone can give me the precise instructions once more? my flash is sometimes a bit loose (to the point that it sometimes doesnt detect)

Had this problem initially but after using a hotshoe cover it seems like it had totally solved the problem. It seems like the problem is the hotshoe is being oxidized. So the hotshoe cover really helps for me.

Just take a coin and place it flat against the hotshoe and press down firmly. Be sure to remove your battery first to be safe
