Guys, does Olympus DSLR and lenses comes with International warranty ?

And do I need to pay GST when shipping in cameras through fedex / DHL / speedpost ?

i think the answer is yes for international warranty.

also yes for the GST part, if the cams & lenses exceed S$400 or S$500, can't really rem the figure. u will need to go to the main post office HQ in eunos to collect ur parcel & pay GST if i m not mistaken.

if u can, get someone to bring it over instead. u save a whole lot of freight charges & GST.

2) Yes, i bought things from ebay and need to pay GST and also self collect items from custom dept at the post office. No, if you can prove otherwise (like cheapo gifts???) send in from oversea.

if i buy an olympus digicam (not slr) from B&H, will the warranty be international too? does that mean that i can get it serviced at olympus singapore?

i think so. u might juz call them to confirm. the last time i serviced a film compact Oly camera 7 yrs ago, they already asked for International Warranty card.

If I remember correctly, international warranty applies to DSLR sold after April 2004

If you look under the 'Item Includes' section for the item you are interested in, you would find that many of the Olympus products from B&H only have '1-Year U.S.A. Limited Warranty' listed in so far as warranty is concerned and the warranty card you get with the product will reflect this.

So it may be best to check with Olympus Singapore on their stand in such cases ie will they consider such items as being covered by International Warranty or not, before ordering it from B&H if this is important to you.
