Default TC stacking. ur advice pls.

i was wondering, since stacking 2X on a f/2.8 lens will gib me a aperture or f/5.6

u think its possible to stack another 1.4 or 2x converter ?

means like this combi

70-200 + 2x + 2x = 280mm- 800mm F/11 lens ??

or

70-200 + 2x +1.4X = 196mm-560mm ??

u guys think its possible ??

couldnt afford super teles la. so no choice... u guys any suggestions ?

Just buy a D2x and a 1.7X TC and you will be able to do 680mm at f/4.8 at 6.9MP.

Default I've tried...

I've tried with a 2x + 1.4x and it works. But then the aperture becomes too small and image quality suffers.

Ideally, need a sharp lens (so that image quality retains even when magnified) with wide aperture like F2.8, to begin with.

But then, comes back to the same issue, ie $$$

i have seen works with TCs on.. and its great... but double TC would mean i shoot in F/11 or F/12 if i stacked 2X 2X together.

well more or less, i guess if if i have no $ super teles, this is a alternative rite ?

It's possible, but you're gonna lose some image quality, depending on the quality of the TCs and lens. The other thing is that you're likely to lose AF as well.

Back in the manual film days, I used to stack two 2x TCs. Image was still good as the glasses were expensive ones to begin with but I did not have any focusing issues as it was fully manual.

I have tried a 1.4X and a 2X stacked together on a lens.

But the only problem is that you must be able to manual focus your setup properly.

did a small research, seems like people have done it before using a F100.

the combi was

F100 + 70-200 F/2.8 + 2X + 2X

and the best part was it Af'ed

so maybe u are right, i will AF, but we cannot be too sure until we try it out rite ?

Then what u need is a 600/4 + 2xTC... don't waste your time with 70-200s

If u cannot afford that, then the next best thing is to get the Sigma Bigma 50-500... super sharp lens at a super cheap price!
