Default Maintaining camera equiment.

Hi all....

I was looking around the forum, but did not find anything similar to this.... so I started it.. and sorry if I am repeating...

I like to know how do you check a lens when you buy one.... check for dust etc??? Looking thrught lense and see have dust??? What else do I have to look out for???

Also... how do you clean your lenses??? What if dust got into the view finder... how to clean it???

I got a 300X film system... and I read that usually, the lens kits that comes with it is not so sharp in image..... is this true???

Plus..... I am not very sure what is MTF chart... can someone help me with it???

Regards.
