The NP Big Walk Nikon Shootout

Calling out all Nikon users, regardless you are using the film SLR, DSLR or Coolpix, this shall be one of the biggest shootout for you. Be one of the expected 300 strong Nikon photographers and come join the 75,000 crowd in the Newpaper Big Walk. Shoot those expressions of the walkers, as well as the Nikon photographers, and win big prizes. Yes, you shall get to win one of those dream lenses. Bring out your shooting gear, don the free Nikon yellow shirt and be part of the shootout. This is also a good time for you to meet fellow Nikon users, and shall be one of the biggest gathering of Nikonians, all dressed in yellow.

PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES

The photographer MUST wear the Nikon yellow shirt to take part in the photography competition and be proud to be part of the big Nikon contingent.

The photographers shall not obstruct the route of the walkers.

The photographers are expected to conduct themselves well and not harass the walkers.

The photographers are responsible for their well being and safety and will not hold the organizing committee or the organization responsible for any incident or injuries which may occur.

The Yellow shirt shall be collected personally at a stipulated date and time.

The acknowledgement slip must be presented to the registration counter on 22 May to be eligible for the lucky draw.

Important Dates for Nikonians

12 May 2005 - Closing date for registration
17 to 19 May 2005 - Collection of attractive Nikon Yellow shirt
22 May 2005 - Big walk
27 May 2005 - Closing date for entries submission
26 June 2005 - Results of competition

Big Walk Shootout program

There will be Nikon checkpoints, reachable by the Nikon buses along the stipulated routes, where you can conduct your photoshoot. You are free to choose your favourite location which need not be at the Nikon checkpoints. You are strongly encouraged to do some site survey before the Big Walk. The map is attached.

There will be early bird draw on the day of the Big Walk. All Nikonians who wear the Yellow shirt and register at the starting point shall stand a chance to win one of the five Coolpix 8400. There will be draw for all participants who stand a chance to win one of the 100 Nikon umbrellas and caps. The draw shall be conducted on the same day at 10.30am.

Program on 22 May 2005

6am - Registration starts at start point
6.30am - Registration closes
7am - Start of Big Walk (Nikon shuttle bus service begins)
10am - Collection of Nikon goodie bag at start point
11am - Lucky draw for Nikon 8400
Lucky draw for Nikon umbrellas and caps (to collect at Nikon Booth)
11.30am - End of program

Yes, wear the yellow Nikon shirt and shoot or get shot to stand a chance to win a prize. Let’s see how fancifully dressed up you can be, with the yellow shirt. Be dressed to kill!!!

Two Special Prizes of AF50 f1.4 (List prize S$530) for both photographers who shoots and the photographer who gets featured in the photograph!

Competition Rules and Regulations
The project is open to Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, Student Pass or Employment Pass/Work Permit holders residing in Singapore.

Each photographer can submit a maximum of 3 photographs.

Participants should not submit the same entry for both competitions.

One CD-ROM should contain images submitted by a single photographer only for EACH competition. If you are submitting for both competitions, you are required to use one CD-ROM for each competition with the CD-Rom properly labeled with the name of the competition. The CD-Rom must be submitted with a duly completed entry form. Photocopied entry forms are allowed.

The entry form should be attached to the sealed envelope containing the CD-Rom.

CD-ROMs submitted are non-returnable. The CDs must be delivered with the duly completed forms to:

The submission deadline is 27 May 2005.

The images can be in Colour or Black & White

Images are to be in digital format and submitted on CD-ROM. For film users, they shall ensure that a good scanning is done for their works. Files should be of a minimum size of 2000 pixels on the long side, JPEG format with minimal or no compression. The images should be named in the following format:*

Fullname_Title*

ie: TanBengBeng_RunningForVictory

Images which are digitally enhanced or manipulated are allowed as long as it does not distort the reality of the image. Winning entries will require the original images files with intact EXIF or the negatives/slides to be submitted as well. Each photographer is eligible to win only one prize per competition.

Images submitted for this project must be the original work of the participants and they own the sole rights of the pictures.

The organizers reserve the right to reproduce the images or use it for publication, publicity and exhibition purposes, without payment of any fees to the author. However, selected images used will be duly acknowledged in the book.

Images that have previously won prizes in other competitions where the rights to the images belong to other organizers are not allowed to be submitted for this project unless written approval is given by the organizer who owns the rights.

The images shall be selected by an independent panel of judges and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process will be entertained. Photographers whose works are selected will be informed accordingly.

Entries will be judged based on originality, creativity, relevance to the theme and photographic techniques.

While the organizers exercise due care to the images during collection, selection & storage, the organizers shall not be held liable should there be any loss, theft or destruction of the images.

Results will be announced on Nikon Singapore website www.nikon.com.sg on 26th June 2005.

Prizes not collected by the stipulated time will be forfeited.
