Default recommend storage device viewer

Anyone using or knows what storage viewer is good. Is it neccessary to have it when going overseas, as bringing a laptop is too troublesome. Please advice.

Cheers.

nice to have one, esp if u are shooting RAW files. check out eastgear's site? they have a few photo storage devices on sale.

as for which model is good, dat really depends on ur wallet. if u wish to have a no-frills, no-LCD screen, fuss-free device, there are plenty of those OEM brands on sale at sim lim. the case alone goes for ard $200+, adding a hdd will be topping up another $100+. those wil colour LCD screen for reviewing ur pics will, of course, cost a lot more (eg. archos portable storage devices. http://www.archos.com/products/fam_p...b2j2ckjbfjok2j)

Do u have an iPod?

If so, juz make use of it. U can get da Belkin Digital Camera Link or the Belkin Digital Media Reader for ur iPod.

If u have the iPod photo lagi best... Apple have their own Camera Connector.

Each of these devices costs between $50 to $130 da most.

From what I heard the transfer rate isn't that fantastic either, I rather you spend on one of those xDrive thingys from EastGear.

If its juz a holiday-shooting thingy, I personally dun think much abt speed unless I have da ability to shoot more den 156 keeper shots in 12hrs.

There's always da time for meal break in-between ur adventures, and that's when the time u do those transferring thingy to free up more space for shooting.

Dat's me though. Not sure abt others.

Yeah..I am using one. I shoot in raw+jpeg files when doing long diving trips as only the jpeg file can be viewed in the Creative Zen Vision's colour screen when pic are uploaded from CF card.

It is pretty good multi media device which you can also use for MP3 and video viewing. With 40GB size, should be sufficient for a week of shooting. I have no problem with it so far and would recommend it.

Ok, thought of buying it to marry MP3 player, video player, photo storage & photo viewer... it's 30gb capacity, not 40gb as you have mentioned.

On the go? If you're out in the field and it doesn't have a card reader chances are you can't unless it has options of external attachements and such. Unless you have a computer but that defeats the purpose of having something small and portable.

There are a few out there that I have come across Epson P-1000 which is really nice but cost about $900, Nixvue Vista, which I do have which, I got for about US$350 refurbished about one and a half years ago.

So depending on what you are looking for there are quite a few options available. The 2 mentioned above have viewers, and of course would cost more that one that purely downloads your images to a drive.

Another thing to consider is the battery life on some of these storage devices. The Nixvue Vista is not very good as far as battery life, so have an additional battery for it. Check out some reviews to see which one suites your budget and needs.

But I must say that I did see a photographer with the Epson P-1000 I was impressed with how large the screen was and how quickly the images came up, but I'm not too sure about the battery life, I think it took AA batteries with might be some consolation.

Cheers! And good luck with your hunt.

It sells at 700 hundred dollars.

I just sold mine away for half the price 2 weeks ago though. Sorry you've missed it.
