    Default Esplanade Blue Hour

    1. Took this from MBS boardwalk
    2. During blue hour
    3. Envision to capture the beautiful night lights of Singapore city
    4. Lights are nice, in fact captured into the sensor better than what the eye sees actually.
    5. Any points of improvement? Techniques, angle etc...
    6. What does the viewer feels when he/she look at this photo?

I'll rate the technicalities as satisfactory. Composition is below satisfactory.

Exposure is decent but would prefer The Swissotel to be a tad brighter. That would probably means clipped highlights at the base of the Esplanade. Probably take the photo 5 to 10 mins earlier to balance out the contrasty lightings.

The composition needs some work. Buildings are being cut off abruptly(or too close to the edge) and scattered around the frame. Its unbalanced, incoherent and lacks a design intent.

my personal preference - i've never really liked to shoot this side of the bay ... but i think if your image is set to just emphasise on esplanade, might turn out more visually pleasing.

then if want to capture the "city night lights", perhaps shoot the other side (as in towards fullerton and maybank side)

    - just 2 cents from a noob, don't take it too seriously =)

sidenote - i realised recently esplanade "durian shell" got lights keep changing ... quite cool

Agreed with Kit. Technically, looks pretty good, but composition isn't great, I'm afraid. It doesn't really focus on one subject, nor is it wide enough to be a cityscape of sorts. Keep shooting, you'll nail it next time I'm sure

That looks better, composition-wise - but for me that's kinda underexposed...bit dark

    Keep at it!
