Default Light meter recommendation

Any light meter(spot) that is recommended to start off with ? i am using a SLR.

Try a Sekonic 508 or 608. A little ex though.

i am using a cheap (S$240) Polaris light meter. So far I am happy with it.

wats e difference in light meter? i mean on wat criteria shld i choose a suitable one?

Your criteria to choose a suitable one would depends on your needs/purpose/shooting. Any reason for spot metering?

Typically light meters with spot metering costs in the region of $600-$800.
