Default Zizula hylax pygmea (Pygmy Grass Blue)

Hi! Good morning!
I understand this is the smallest butterfly found in Malaysia and Singapore. The average wingspan of the species is about 8-11 mm.

Thank you for viewing and comments.
Cheers,

Hi Patrick,

There are sure many solutions for you. Me shots using Nikon CP4500 is here http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=124729

Somehow, if you are using SLR/DSLR, you can consider a macro lens, if you have already owned one, consider a close-up lens, a ext-tube, or a tele-converter (to enlarge ur final image)...

What gears you are using?

Hi! sumball
These are shots using 150mm Oly telephoto lens with ext-25 tube (magnification can be 0.62 according to specifications)
may be I should try using my 50mm macro lens with ext-25 tube next time.
But then the working distance too close may chase them aways.
By the way, I have only 150mm lens mounted during that time. these are shots taken downstair my block so I didn't bring all my gears with me.
I can always go for another time whenever I'm free.

nice shot of the pygmy grass blue. pity you cant go close enough, isolating the subject and blurring the background.

try not to centralise the subject

Default More closeup picture

using my 50mm macro lens, i can get the close-up picture quite good
but then the working distance very close to this butterfly and chase it aways most of the times. focusing is also quite difficult
