Default Oly 5060 with Nikon flash

Hi all,

I have the 5060 as my compact cam but find the built-in flash sometimes not powerful enough. Have tried to attach my SB800 but it doesn't seem to work? Anyone out there knows if 5060, and in general, OLY cameras will work with other flashes, like the Nikon SB800? Reason I'm asking is that I'm using the Nikon D100 and the 5060 is a small "everyday" camera for me. Would not like to spend more for an OLy flash.

personally, i used a SB-24 on my 5050, and it work neatly~ hehee, just set ur camera to Aperture Priority, then the Flash on Auto, and set the Aperture on the flash too.

Then you're ready to shoot shoot shoot !!

for what i have tried (Nikon flash on C5050), Oly cam worls best with Oly's flashes. other flash didn't give me consistent results. i think u can get a 2nd hand FL-40 for relatively cheap price that works best with C5060.

Hello Jamestan,

Metz series of flashes work with Olympus DSLRs in AUTO mode including the humble 32Z1, 40MZ3i & 60CT4, this mode works well (reasonable accurate exposure) with the E-1 & C7070 and I'm taking about the one-pin 'dumb' hot shoe, not the dedicated expensive modules that have compatibilty issues with the latest camera releases.

Hope this helps :-)

Cheers,

Thanks to all who replied... My SB26 works but not the SB800 (both in Auto mode). Any reason why? Izzit the SB800 "too intelligent"? Or is there some setting I missed? Both settings same leh...

By the way, how much is a used FL40? Can it do bounce flash?

Hi Jamestan,

I believe the FL40 is an End-Of-Life item. A few were put up at B&S some time ago, do check if its still for sale.

The FL40's flash head swivels along two axis for vertical & horizontal bounce flash. You may wish to check that the locking pin of the flash shoe does not obstruct mounting though.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Huh ?!

My dedicated foot works well with my C-5060.

I owned a few Metz Flash, namely, 32Z2, 32MZ2, 40MZ2, 44MZ3...

No problem with any of the above flash to C-5060, be it TTL or A priority.

The Auto Zoom of course is missing from the 32Z2, but I shoot in 99% of the situation bounce flash (ceiling or back corner bounce), and therefore, My 32Z2 is set at the longest focal length most of the time...
