Was at Ubin today, and saw this Oriental pied hornbill (pls correct me if I am wrong). Saw another later that day, but was too dark in the jungle to take a good pic.
This fella was rather 'blend' in colour, and not the bright orange beak I thought it would be. I at first thought it was a Toucans, but after chk on the net, it may be a Oriental pied hornbill. I hardly take any bird pics, so I would appreciate any comments on the pics. Thanks. Taken with FZ10, full zoom, F2.8, #1 ExposureTime : 1/80Sec #2 1/160

You're right, its the Oriental Pied Hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris).
There are many different species of hornbills, and the bill colour varies among species, from bright red, to yellow, to orange and black. Toucans are not related to Hornbills, and are found only in Central, South America. ![]() |
