Today got to borrow and IR filter to run another test and failed badly. here are the results.
This shot was taken without covering the VF. ![]() 6 secs, f/5.6, ISO400 This shot was taken with VF covered using the provided VF cap + the hotshoe cover clip on the VF cover. ![]() 6 secs, f/6.7, ISO400 This shot was taken with VF covered using my thumb. ![]() 6 secs, f/6.7, ISO400 White Balance was set to auto, AS off, sharpness +1, saturation +1, honeycomb metering and all shots post-processed with Paintshop Pro 9, 1 step photo fix and resized. Photo was taken somewhere in the direction towards the east @ 9am. Man, I just don't understand what is going on? ![]() Please disregard the colour tone of the photos, I am addressing about the bluish-purple highlights and not the post-processing (I believe it doesn't matter much). If you would like the original files to see and post-process them yourself to find out, kindly send me a PM and I'll give you the link to download. * Sorry, I just updated the photos, previously were wrong ones & in wrong order but doesn't matter much anyway.

it doesn't matter much at what ISO to use. if you follow my previous thread on my first IR test, you'll see the same thing.
now, i'm trying to find out why does this happen.

I've never done IR but is it possible to raise the ISO and hence the shutter speed so that the exposure time is shorter? Wonder if that will help... from the shape of the reflection and that they appear at the 4 corners, it looks like light bouncing off the mirror...

Hi Drudkh.
please refer to my thread http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=125567 U need some post processing on your Pic... I searched in Dpreview threads and almost every shot with D7D taken look like yours including mine (reflection). So far, I have yet to see anyone successfully converted it to more colorful pic but I will try that again when I am free. ![]()

the purpose of my IR threads are to address the issue of the bluish-purple highlights in the photos and not about taking good IR or good post-processing on them. on my very first try, i followed axactly how an IR photo should be post-processed but this bluish-purple thing pops out, therefore i used Paintshop Pro's 1-step photo-fix to bring it out more.

Hey mate,
Hmmm.. interesting. Do you get those same highlights with different lenses ? Looks like those four square highlights in the corners could be due to internal reflection from something - either the lens or double reflection off the sensor or filter pack to the lens and back. |

At the moment, I could only get to borrow my friend's IR ilfter, which is the hoya. I don't mind if I can get hold of other types of IR filters to try out.
