Default Sigma mirror telephoto 600mm /F8

Hi,
I have a minolta mount Sigma Lens 600mm fully manual with a fixed F8 aperture. The mount do not have any elecrtical contact, without this electronic chip, my Dynax 7D show a "no lens attached" error. Is there a way I could get this lens to install a chip? to fool the camera?

Sigma USA replied saying that the lens need an upgrade and they are willing to do it for free. So far the nearest service center is at Hong Kong.

Yah.. juz found out, its at Bukit Merah...15mins from my office..
Dunno what the chip could do, maybe tell the camera its a fixed F8 so that the camera can compute the matching shutter speed? curious...

I know..jus try....I was hoping the camera can do its own metering based on F8..you know juz like Aperture piority.

Anyway, when I switch to manual mode..the EV bar moves..although the camera dunno what aperture the lens is having.

So far by following the EV bar I can get decent exposure from the 7D.

Also, I find that focusing onto distance object the image appear hazy..maybe would get a UV filter
