So a $20,000 Mitsubishi Lancer will cost
    Cost Price = $20,000 +
    Registration Fee (RF) $140 +
    COE = $32,001 +
    ARF = 20,000 * 1.4 = $28,000 +
    customs duty = 20,000 * 0.31 = $6,200
    = $86,341

    roughly..

Paying for this with a 7yr loan will cost you
$25902 upfront and about $800 per month.

I left out road tax, sports rims, sound system, leather seats.....

woohoo!! go rob bank liao loh

New G9 is about $82k now. So how much does that leaves u? $68k right.

So now I'm quoting from replies here that 2000 G9 is going to cost $68k. Dun challenge me ok, just challenge the replies here.
Ok i may be wrong. But please take note that i think we're talking about a 1.6 here. So i assume hes talking about the GLI. If thats really $82K now. I will apologise for my kay kiang. Oh just wondering. You talking about paying full cash issit? If so, you have my respect and my apology also.

Btw...i am just sharing wat i know. No point to prove. And no i am not intellectually superior also. Neither am i dumber than you are.

FYI, I bought a Mazda 323 1.6M at $72,988. Borrowed $50,000 at 2.6% for 7 years which works out to $703.57 per month. (Total interest payable is $9,100!)

Parf value at the end of 10 years is $8,822,

Therefore total depreciation is $72,988-$8,822 = $64166 for the 10 years.

Yearly depreciation (straight line method) = $6,416.60 which works out about $537.72 monthly.

The above work out, though simple, showed roughly how much to pay for a new car. The above can be applied for used car as well.

Note that this does not include the interest, road tax, parking, inspection, insurance, fines (), etc, etc.

Hmm, wonder what if I use the money to buy the S2 Pro instead....

    And also....the Parf Value for a G9 GLI is $17000+ thereabouts. Hmm...so for a 2 year old one. Its ($7K x 8) + $17000 = $73000. Or dont tell me my calculator spoil? LoL...

Err...SE? The G9 has this model? Correct me if i'm wrong. But i have a feeling the GLI isnt a G9 but the model before. And i do believe the GLI is the top of the range for G9.

I'll call Borneo to confirm tomorrow or Monday.

Go shop around slowly. Take your time. Compare prices slowly. You may wanna try some forums and buy direct from owners instead. Only buy from Dealers if no choice. IMHO that is.

Maybe you can try this place...

I recv some PM from Punkie. See below

I drive a GLI now. You sure you can get me a 2 year old one for $68K? Call me at 90170110 if you're really able.
    .
    .
    .
I'm dead serious you know? Let me know if you can, or cannot get? Else, dont challenge others like this publicly in forums. I wasnt trying to prove anything back there. You were. Why cos you founding member? Think again.

Well, punkie. I'm not challenging you.
I'm only saying, since u drive a GLi, you should jolly well know how much a 2 yr old corolla cost.

And one more point. I think the 2000 model is a G8. Dun quote me on this as I didn't bother to check it up.

I'm only posting the 2 PMs here

    1. Your PM is full. Can't reply.
    2. You're not being reasonable. Only 2 days and u reply with such an offensive PM. Even if I was a full time dealer, I might not be able to source for the car at such a price for you, given only 2 days.
    3. You're being personal by using the fact that I'm a FM.

As a last note, you can refer to Goondu's quote, they're quite accurate. Pls go look elsewhere if you're seriously interested. Coz I just lost my interest.

Okok stop this arguing. I apologise ok? Chill ok?

I admit i took offence to your..."LOL. Guys just love to appear to hv superior knowledge, dun they." I was sincerely trying to help Siron here. Not trying to prove anything.

Honestly and sincerely...i am not out to flame, prove my intellect or knowledge, and the last thing on my mind would be making foes.

With regards to the FM thing, yeah it was rather unfair for me to say that. I apologise for it.

But let me remind you. You werent very forgiving with your words back there too. And you did mention a G9 didnt you?

Watever the case is, You have a pleasant day.

Try to find out its parf value, years remaining. And annual depreciation for a focus. Then easy to calculate. Btw...Focus is a 1.6 or 2 litre? Dunno much about Fords.

    Apologies accepted.
And I offer my apologies as well. Perhaps its the way the message came out, but I really hv no intention to challenge. Just a side-punt which went wrongly. Sorry

BTW, I think I see your point at how you arrive at the figures.
But do remember, depreciation during the first 2 yrs is higher than subsequent years. So usually selling your car after 2 yrs is not a good idea.

For 2nd hand buyer, the 'ideal' age of car (if there's any ideal) is cars that's less than 3 yrs old. or cars more than 7 yrs old.
