    23 May 2013 Thursday | 11:30 AM

A Hong Kong tourist died on Tuesday after a metal archway fell on him at the grounds of the 2013 Audi Fashion Festival last week.
His parents, who appeared to be in their 70s according to Chinese paper Lianhe Wanbao, and younger brother had rushed over from Hong Kong the night they received news of the accident.

But as the man's condition worsened, the family decided to take the 34-year-old off life support. They retrieved his body yesterday morning.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, the victim's name was Mr Xu Zhen Xuan.

    It is a freak accident.

It is a public relations disaster for Audi.

The client (in this case Audi) would engage an event specialist who would organise and prepare the venue.

Usually the latter will subcontract out the construction of the temporary venue built-environment - tentage, stage, catwalk, etc.

From the photo you can see that the heavy metal arch way is totally unnecessary.

The collapse may be due to faulty design and/or sub-standard construction and/or cheating on materials.
