Why do you consider the above 2 lens are travel lens?

I suggest 24-120 VR lens. Have you consider?

You won't regret the VR function especially evening shots. No need to carry tripod.

u can pick up the VR lens here in BnS. think there're 2 on sale now...

anyway, the sigma 18-125mm is not dat bad a travel lens. yeah, sure. no VR (IS if u coming from canon). but, a lens dat covers from wide-angle to tele in one package is quite appealing as a travel lens. can read more abt the 18-125 here.
http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/s...&cat=37&page=2

do note - its meant to be used on a DSLR. on a SLR, it will give u vignetting (dark corners on ur pic).

I will still opt for either 12-24 or 17-35 + 50 f/1.8 for travelling

for comparison, B&H (a store in the US) is selling the 18-200@$US$400 vs the 18-125@$289.

18-125 is not all that bad for the price. 18-200 will be about $600+ I think.
Both are great travelling lens. 18-200 will be out soon. Anybody want the 18-125 Nikon mount ??.

My choice:
- AFS 24-120 VR for the VR.
- Tamron 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 looks good also, open this link for samples

why can't a lens manufacturer come up with 10-400/f2.8 dat weighs in at under 1kg..

Sigma 18-125 is a better choice. Small, light and quite good quality except distortion at wide.

Have anyone used Tokina 24-200? is it any good? want to put on only one lens for travel and can it be used on both DSLR and Film bodies?

If you're really on a budget go to TCW, just saw last Friday that they've 2 unit 2nd hand on the shelf display selling at around 600 - 700 plus. Quite good and new condition.

If you want brand new try Cam-X and TCW, shop warranty around $850 - $900.

the Tamron 18-200 seems like a good alternative from Nikon 24-120 VR.

Any idea is it available here and price wise?
