    Default Win XP SP2 sneaking into our homes & offices....

    It's 12th April 2005 and according to Microsoft, their SP2 is suppose to install automatically into PCs without it. Has anyone of those SP1 user experience system/internet slowness? Or has been upgraded "automatically" ? What are your views on this "sneaky" deployment?

    Well, some software from Microsoft requires that you upgrade to SP2, so if you dun do so, these programs cant be installed. I guess we don'thave much choice either

    Anyway, SP2 is supposed to have more safeguards in terms of firewalls etc..

    unless "automatic updates" is active, otherwise how can it sneak up with my firewall running?

    I have automatic update running, but set it to prompt me before install. Don't wanna use SP2 cause when I installed it last time I encountered some problems opening certain folders.. this is a documented problem, but can't remember exactly what it said

    SP2 is problematic.Never let Microsoft attempt to solve problems for you.Slove them yourselves and be a lil wiser in the end.

    may i know where you can download this file? Auto-update takes quite a long time.

    TIA!=)

    I installed SP2 last time and encountered some write errors in memory. Uninstalled them and back to normal. However, I also can choose what to install manually over the update site. Btw my windows version read (build2600xpsp2.040919-1003:Service Pack 1)

    So far all my computers are functioning properly with SP2. It's not as scary as most people said.

    You're a Windows user. Why wouldn't you want to patch your system?
