Default caring for your D70

I am wondering if any of the old birds can teach newbies any thing to look out for in maintenance of the D70.

I know must keep in drybox when not in use. CCD needs to be cleaned once a while. anything else.

Went for the D70 workshop at PSS, one thing the instructor say is to get a cap for your hot shoe as it may get wet and short circuit your DSLR. Good suggestion I think.

Any other tips? How good is the hot shoe? I just got a SB600 and I find putting the flash on and off seems to be a little difficult. got to wriggle it. dunno if the contacts will die in the long run?

Which is the most fragile likely to spoil parts of the D70? the mode dial? hotshoe?

cover for hotshoe is pretty impt.

cos the contacts may rust or a think layer of oxide might form on it and may affect flash synching

I did the pda screen proctector on my LCD screen also on the screen of my SB800 flash. I find the LCD cover for the D70 rather irritating and it keeps falling out.

Just do it with a credit card and squeeze out the bubbles will do fine.
