That means the camera is trying to counter this by cranking up the ISO, which leads to higher noise. 5 megapixels is really too much for such a small sensor too begin with; they are noisy, and there's nothing one can do about it. In other words, the picture looks normal to me under the circumstances.

the picture is taken in ISO100, 1/15s, F5.

shutter speed too slow, and the condition is a bit dark. that's why it appear blur. try at least 1/30~ 1/60 (depends on how steady ur hand is). can use a larger aperture (smaller F value) to increase the shutter speed too.

and may be you can try to use flash. if ur target object is not reflective.

last solution, may try some noise reduction software. such as neatimage, etc. to do post processing.

Yes, at A4 size or 8R/Super 8R, it will be noticeable.

using the X50 I acquired recently, the image quality is alright so long I use ISO 50 or 100, anything more and things gets quite noisy. but considering the size and weight of the camera, that is ok for me. can use prosumer or DSLR when image quality is important.

one question I have is:
after setting to ISO 50, the camera always reset back to auto. is there anyway to make the X50 'remember' the settings? find it quite irritating.
