2 weeks ago, while ferrying my kid home, we saw some small trees (5 to 6 about 10ft tall)with broken trunks. I mean the whole tree snap off. My son asked me why the tree can break so easily. I told him that the wind was too strong. Maybe my answer was no good enough so he continue to ask, " why dont it get uprooted instead?" errr.. I replied,Maybe the roots are strong but the trunk is not as strong. I also told him that the branches and leaves acts as a "sail" to collect the force of the wind. Bigger area more force. Oh! he said. But I'm not sure how much he understand cos hes only 9.
Very sad to hear a very young life lost. My suggestion is Every year around this time, Nparks should trim the trees, check their health, check soil condition.
So the rakyat will demand that trees at the roadside be removed.
Build sheltered walkways at the side of the roads for shelter then.
Oh yea. But i forgot.. What provides oxygen again? And mitigates the effects of greenhouse gases? And also a cooling shade that no man-made shelter can provide?
I think it is more UNSAFE to post here ... Hahahah
Happy holiday everyone. Bye
