Default AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D

I bought my D70 a month ago with the kit lens. I was wondering if i should get this lens as well for potrait shots, or if the kit lens can do whatever this lens can do? Please give me some good advice. Thanks

one thing this lens can do while the kit lens cannot. a f/1.8 allows u to shoot in low light or in difficult lighting conditions.

even though i dont really participate in this forum so often, i suspect i'm already down with the BUY BUY BUYBUY BUY BUY Virus! Reversing the lens requires another mount right?

The 50mm f1.8 is a cheap and good lens. You should try to get one. Probably the only reason why you might not want this lens is if you wanted to get a 50mm f1.4.

This lens does wonder for portrait .. sure the kit lens already cover the same range but this allow you to shoot at low lighting and I haven't even mentioned the sharpness&bokeh. At 170.. it's a no brainer.. cheap and good keeper

My take on the 50 f/1.8 reversed, handheld, exposure was done manual with flash.
