Default common bird

first try at shooting birds.. this one's one shot or a common bird (sparrow?) at close distance. comments welcome.

i like the pic and the background a lot. None of the red BG 'hotspots' are near the head of the sparrow which is why i feel the BG works.

oh yah.. didn't realise that.. haha.. kinda lucky that the red spots isn't near the bird..

Agree with erwinx... the bright reds bokeh may be abit distracting, but I feel that it is a welcoming distraction as it makes the pix more alive with colours and yet did not dilute the main subject.

But personal opinion is that you may have overdone the Unsharp Mask abit too much.

I forgot to mention inthe post just now that visited your album. Magnificent shots. Especially the night shots. Can you share your expertise? Your camra type, & the settings for Hotel Fullton, & Esplanade night shots.
I would really appreciate it. You know why? New bird.

haha, sure. I'm a newbie too. Using Canon D30 with tamron 28-80mm F4.5-5.6
for the Fullaton and Esplanade shot. shot at 28mm F8 aperture priority mode, using tripod. hope this helps
