After reading on the widely "speculated" D70s manual, apparently there's not much of a differences (features and most hardwares) with D70. But until any pros do any reviews of the new D70s nutting can be 100% sure rite
hope they can solve the moire problem if not an other known and unknown problems of D70.

dun...cos i dun own a D70 yet. since its a known problem just hope that the new model will solve it and any other problem it may have...to make D70 a better camera (although currently its already a great 1...no doubt abt that)

If you don't/won't be shooting objects/subjects that will have that problem, then why worry about the problem?

I don't see any relationship, spend more time wondering what the new D70S can do instead of what it can't, why limit yourself to the faults only? Look beyond.

I'll end here.

Overall it will benefit the consumers (esp. to all the would be D70S owners).

just a casual comment from a casual CSer... hope u not so uptight abt it

I bought the D70 after reading the D50 and D70s specs. not much difference in the specs.

pretty happy with my D70 but I can see some purple fringing in one of my pics. dunno if it is the lens or camera.

Does this mean that the price of the original D70 will drop? Or would it be discontinued? This is because while looking for a good DSLR, i am quite price conscious due to a very tight budget. I think even if i bought the older D70 i still wouldn't be able to utilise the camera 100% due to my noobieness. Does anybody have any info?

Purple fringing I believe is Chromatic Abberations? Read more here:
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glos...rations_01.htm

It is a optical property, May be try steeping down to f/8 and see what happens? The D70 kit lens has ED glass elements so it should help to reduce such image problems.

Me too ...bobian no $$ so have to be more concious.
To some point u can be right b'cos new model comes out those retailers with old D70 stocks in hand may let them go at (sightly) lower price ... suppose the new D70S do not have much changes, then i predict it may be sold at the price ard 2k (or maybe less) .... well just my prediction hehe
for info on D70S ..simple do a Google search can liao....much speculations in many websites....
