My CoolScan IV is producing very soft images (like as if digicam has super-strong low-pass filter). The lens is defintely focusing, but the image has got this blooming and soft effect. I suspect dust has formed a layer on the lens/mirror whatever, since I have been neglecting it
The kicker is Nikon is quoting me $120 to clean it... Why so ex??? Just to clean dust? Anybody with similar experience? |

BTW i never had any problems with the coolscan I am curious how old is your scanner? I think the scanner has a few ED elements, if they were to overhaul the lenses for cleaning that are more to it calibration and adjustments could take more time. $120 is abt 12-15% of the original price of this product when it was first launched.
