Write a personal message to me with your handphone number.
You should get hold of a Firewire card for Firewire connection. |

Sorry, can't drink beer, but liquors and wine will be great! hahaha.
I don't want to post this on Buy and Sell, but more for the S2pro people, CR123 anyone? I have quite a few and I can let go 20 pieces at $18 for 10 pieces. Panasonic brand, on my S2pro (not using internal flash) averages 575 shots. PM me. |

I use tethered shooting to check after every CCD cleaning. The process: wipe, mount lens, tethered shot, review on PC, clean again until dust free. It helps that I have the AC to DC power supply, too.
BTW, iWill brand firewire PCI card with 2 external ports adn 1 internal port was $40 4 years ago, come with 6pins to 4 pins cable. I use my firewire mostly for video edits. |

Darn it, why didn't I think of that ?
Every time I clean my CCD I take a shot, take out the card, download to PC from card reader, evaluate ... et al. Also have the adapter, it's from my recently-croaked 6900 (not worth fixing, though that produced amazing results). Am a firm Fuji fan ... eyeing an F10 now. |

Thanks yowch. You are the man.
I was half regretting my S2 purchase. The jpeg files make me feel like puking many time. Its near impossible to get rid of color casts. At one stage I was trying out photocopy papers, grey cloths, pringle caps, plastic bags trying to find reference grey points. Now I shoot raw and leave it all the hyperutility for fine adjustments. The result is close and I can always go back to hyperutility to readjust. By the way there is a new version out on FujiFilm website. http://wp.dekaservices.com/hello/940...0-11.17.08.jpg |

Not sure if this information is useful for you but I understand that Capture One v3.6 supports the S2 and S3.
Hope this helps Cheers Trigger |

That is cheap. The best offered I got was $25.00 for 10 in display packaging.
I play torches in Pulau Ubin, use up 6 CR123s especially during durian hunting season. BTW what is the purpose of using CR123? I almost have a heart-attack when my CR123s died sending focussing, wb totally screwed. They drain faster than my torchlights too. Now I don't use CR123 with my S2 anymore.

Using CR123 on the S2pro has been discussed many times. Advantages:
1. Can use internal flash (sometimes you just need this) 2. Seems to be faster focusing on AF and AF-S lenses 3. Allows the AA batteries to be used longer. I don't have actual data, but assuming the cam runs on 4.5V, 1.2V x 4 = 4.8V, so whent he NiMH rechargeable lose charge and the voltage drops below 4.5V, the cam stops but there is still quite some juice left in the batteries. Now, you add the load of the CR123 (2 x 3V = 6V) onto the 4AAs, wow, lose charge even faster and shuts down even earlier. MB16 with 4AA will be better than driving on 4AAs alone, but it makes the camera REALLy tall. That's why I'm still on the CR123s. Anyone else for the $18 for 10? |

Just wanted to share - I am not sure if you are aware of this but you can shoot the S2 without CR123s. I have been doing that for as long as I have the S2. Plus I have used a modified MB16 - so in total I have 8 AA batteries on the S2 when shooting and it lasts for a long time.

On Auto WB, most of the time the camera gets it right for me, it's only when I get into funky light situations that I need to compensate. I tried shooting raw, it was just too much work when you shoot a lot (eg. hundreds of frames a session). Nowadays I use it perhaps 1% of the time, when I absolutely need to know that I can salvage the image no matter what. Other times I shoot enough that at least a few are keepers, especially if I review often enough on the LCD. |

My first day with my S2 was dissappointing. I had a Sigma AF lens & a Nikon ai lens with me then. It was a bright sunny day but the colors were totally unacceptable. I tried all my Nikon ai lenses and all of them have color casts in some degree or another. Theorized maybe the WB is greatly affected by each lenses particular characteristics. Old ais lens are warmer in color tone. Anyway, I first thing I eliminated was the CR123s as my focussing was totally way off and the CR123s died too quickly on me.
My friend who is a pro suggested sticking with day wb. It is better than auto I found. Another problem is the dreaded heavy look lines look. http://images6.fotki.com/v162/photos...richard-vi.jpg . Human subjects appears to be heavier by 10 kilos if shot under shade. And I was shooting with my brand new 24mm D lens. Now I got a questionable S2 body and a so-so lens. Its was when shooting in raw that all the picture qualities came out. Like night and day. To me, shooting in Jpegs is akin to putting too many filters on your prime lens. I am very pleased with my S2pro and my lens now.

I guess that's what makes life interesting ... looks like we're using completely opposite settings and they work well for us individually
