Default RSS feed for CS forum

Hi, anyone else using RSS Aggregators?

More info on RSS

I am using SharpReader and mostly subscribe to news content and of course dpreview.com.

It would be great if Clubsnap could provide feeds for its forums and we would have a centralised source of info from one single application (the RSS Aggregator).

vBulletin Version 3.0.0 might have built-in support for RSS, maybe the Mods can check it out.

How to enable RSS feeds in Firefox -

1. Goto Manage Bookmarks
2. Goto File>New Live Bookmark
3. Enter the relevant info for the Live Bookmark eg Name: CS Feed
4. Under Feed Location, cut'n'paste the URL (http://forums.clubsnap.org/clubsnap_rss.php)
5. Click OK

You may also want to move the Live Bookmark to the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder, and then turn on (enable) the Bookmarks Toolbar - doing so will have the Live Bookmark show a drop-down list under the navigation bar in Firefox which will show the recent posts.

Another way - We are experimenting with sending the feed to an external aggregator, and they provide more ways of getting the feed. Try it out here - http://feeds.feedburner.com/ClubSNAP

Great job guys.
Btw, I've noticed that the update rate for the RSS feed seems a little slow, anyway to increase it? I've my reader set to query every second or so, but the headlines lag what's on the CS main page by a while.

BTW...how about a separate feed just for the Buy/Sell forum?

Its like a "pushmail" service that updates your RSS client (can be browser, email app, or specialised RSS aggregator) when new posts are made. It normally only pushes the title and a bit of the text and you can then click on the RSS link to go to the relevant post in ClubSNAP.

Try it and see if you like it.

We have taken note of this and like we said earlier, we will be tweaking the RSS feed to make it better. Most RSS feeds don't update by the second, so maybe you want to set it higher like every few minutes

okie... my feedback -

1) good cultures should be encouraged and continued - must separate the B/S threads from the main coz it's really overwhelming

2) faster refresh rate

3) can the number of new topics updated on the RSS feed be increased from the currently 15 to say 20 or more?

Heehhee...

Update: Note that the url for ClubSNAP RSS feeds has been updated. Please use
http://forums.clubsnap.org/clubsnap_rss.php

This RSS feed excludes threads from Marketplace forums (i.e. Buy/Sell forums, Consumers Corner forums)

I am currently working on a separate RSS feed for the Buy/Sell forums, Consumers Corner forums. Will post here once its ready.

Update: Urls for ClubSNAP RSS feeds have been updated.

(1) RSS feed (excluding threads from Marketplace forums)
http://forums.clubsnap.org/clubsnap_rss.php

(2) RSS feed for Marketplace forums (Buy/Sell forums, Consumers Corner forums)
http://forums.clubsnap.org/clubsnap_buysell_rss.php

Note:
Due to a currently unknown issue, you might encounter problems retrieving RSS feeds for (2) periodically. I will try to sort this out at a later time. Please bear with us for now.
