Default Recommend my friend a Camera =< $2000

Helping my friend in looking for a digital camera with a budget of $2k.

    His prorities:

    1. >=10x zoom (prebably more optical than digital zooms)
    2. Non-interchangable lens
    3. Image Quality
    4. Built in flash

    Any recommendations?

Wait a while and get a 18-200mm zoom to go with a 300D, D50 or istDS.

I second KT's recommendation... the F828 beats the rest of the prosumer cameras flat

if 200mm is not enuf for ur friend, why not u suggest to him to get a DSLR with a 300mm> lens? frankly, i also second the f828. IIRC, it has the equivalent of a 28-200mm lens pack in a 8MP body and weighs less than 1 kg? all for abt $1k? a similar setup for DSLR will be at least twice the amt.

your fren really has some interesting citeria there..
he wants such tele zoom and yet he don't want inter changable lenses?
if he really planning to take shots at such a long zoom, i dun think got build in flash or not make any difference lo.. lolx

the rest made a good recommendation, ask ur fren to check it out, if he still think the zoom is not long enough.. get a dslr with 500mm lens or something lo. hehe

200mm not enough? what's the long end of the zoom that he wants? 300mm? note that 10x zoom is very subjective as it is the ratio of the long end vs the wide end of the lens. ie. 20-200mm is 10x zoom.
