Trying my luck here as I've run out of ideas
.Does anyone use a 1 series DSLR (Specifically 1DM2) and is able to get Win XP SP2 on a notebook to recognise the camera using firewire? I'm currently using the 1D2 WIA driver 5.3 and my notebook has a IEEE1394 port (using a TI OHCI compliant controller) but each time I plug the camera into the firewire port, I can't see it in Device Manager nor in "Scanners and Cameras" in control panel. The firewire port itself is working as I can connect a firewire hard disk to it and it gets recognised. It works fine with my PC that is running XP (non-SP2) which also uses the same IEEE1394 controller as my notebook. Is there something I need to do on SP2? Thanks! ![]()

I am currently using the 1Ds WIA driver 5.0 with my notebook's IEEE 1394 port with no problems on Win XP SP2.
Latest version of my WIA driver is 5.03 which I have not yet installed. Does your notebook detect your camera when its plugged in? |

I have a feeling it's something to do with XP SP2 and WIA 5.3 but I don't know what it is. Still troubleshooting *sigh*

Having said that, I must say that it is highly likely that all the WIA drivers for the 1 series EOS DSLRs are the same. And hence the newer versions might possibly work for older bodies. And in your case, I dun think you have much to lose by trying. ![]() |
