Default KM Dimage A2 is obsolete

Just spoke to a guy called James at Konica Minolta SG today. He claims that KM JP has stopped production of this model and is officially obsolete.

Yupe wouldn't be surprised with the emergence of the A200... actually wondered why they still carried 2 models in the same segment.

I rememeber when they announced the A200, they said the A200 and the A2 will be marketed simultaneously... Somethinng like A2 being the big brother of the A200...

But well, think the A2 has wireless flash but the A200 don't...

other than image processor, A2 is superior than A200 in almost everyway. pity that high end prosumers such as the KM A2 and Oly C8080 are discontinued due to high manufacturing costs and competition from lowend DSLRs.

Not really.... none of the major manufacturers has a prosumer like the A2 and the reason is because all of them have an entry level DSLR unlike Minolta which did not until recently. So it only makes sense that Minolta throws out the A2 (which was basically a stop-gap measure in lieu of the 7D) and brings in the A200. Which also brings me to the point that Minolta may be preparing the ground to launch a 5D or 3D to fill the gap between the A200 and 7D....
