English? Don't tell me we're gonna act out scene two of the war of words from the other "zone system" thread? My english standard is definitely not up to par with most of the people here...

No no... not THAT one! It's THIS one...

I'd yet to master the ZS yet. Can't master it since my spotmeter was down since late Feb and a certain shop is still seeking parts to repair my meter. Then, with their "efficiency", I doubt that they will get any repair done, by oh, June 2010!!

Having said that however, I'd used whatever primitive knowledge I'd have on ZS on certain stuff, and it does work. Tips? Hmm... be generous with exposure lor... cos there's still visible range between zone X and XV. If you need to make two otherwise flat subjects contrasty, beware of the basketball-sized grains if you do N+2 or N+3 development lor. Luckily for me, the grains didn't get too large to affect me on 6x7 with a N+3 development. I don't think 135 format have that luxury though...

Hee hee~! Nowadays my negatives are soo dense that I could use them to see solar eclipse! HHaha~!

Zone O to X is what's usually taught lah, but the fact is, you could push to beyond zone X in film, and still burn back the details in the darkroom. If you don't believe me, go and take any film with exposure of say a bright sky (i.e. very black), hold it against strong light (spot light will do) and see whether you could see any details or not... Most of the time, you can lor!

Printing of anything visible detail from zone VIII or above is frustrating though. Time is long, and the result usually don't reflect what you'd visualised before you take the shot!
