Thread: Using Go-Pro as in-car camera

Default Using Go-Pro as in-car camera

Would you consider this an un-necessary expense, or just ' boh liao ' (pointless?)

I saw the specs of Go Pro Silver edition (i am very new to gopro) - it looks quite good and i think HD capture is pretty good too, and I am seriously considering a more heat-resistant in-car camera after my Shenzhen-imported, $50 camera got toasted on a hot hot hot day

i've used a GoPro2 without the casing as a portable incar camera. Wonderful field of vision.

but yes, it got "burnt" and started flaking and peeling when i forgot to keep it. The camera also had some freezes but it still worked when it cooled down.

my concern is sensor burn. the previous in car got burned while causeway jam, then low contrast or blown out image. i resorted to making a little Sun shade for it using used parking coupon to save it from further burning.

very unglam i know. but it works.
but i want sharp sharp. just wondering if heat tolerance is under the Go Pro spec

My older Gopro hd2 gives much better IQ than my China 1080p car recorder.

I am not aware of the newer Gopro specs but car recorders they offer the usual continuous write over modes, g shock sensors.

Unless u r willing to risk changing memory cards otg on Gopro when full.

agree, the auto-overwrite mode is essential. not sure if Gopro has or not. for quality-wise, gopro is sure one of the best.

I use blackvue (BLACK VUE Singapore - Car Black Box- Car Camera Sg, Singapore Car Camera). Have been using it for a year+ mounted in front of the rear-view mirror (and exposed to the sun), so far no problems. Just shuts up and works, just as how electronics used to be a long time ago...
