just a heads-up, Sony will be launching the W7 quite soon, if you can afford to wait and top up a bit more. 7.2 megapixels and the battery life (using rechargeable AA batts) is fantastic...

I am interested in the MO for Sony DSC W5. I can wait for the next promo if neccessary. Also, payment could be by cash or credit card for me.
Please keep me informed if there is any new updates. Thanks. During the last IT show, W5 was sold for $599 with free gifts of 2 extra batteries, camera pouch and 256MB Memory Stick. Read somewhere that the same promo was available outside IT show for $510. So, I expect the next promo to provide the same discount, if not better. |

Also, are all the manuals and screen display in Japanese? May consider getting it at Tokyo's Akihabara next week if the conditions are right. |

i fergot exactly how much it was, but slightly cheaper then SG's prices. I bought mine at Bic Camera, i think if u have the time to shop around, u might find a better deal. I bought mine at a big chain store cos i needed to use it straight away. The manual is in Japanese, but an english one can be downloaded off the web, the screen menu display is originally in Japanese, but it can be switched to English from the language options menu. U to you entirely if you feel like buying one in Japan. So far all the electronic stuff i bought from Japan lasted over a year, so for me. i don't mind. But if u are the sort that must insist on warranties, buy one in Singapore |

So when are we going to carry out the MO? Any idea when is the next promo? W5 is selling for about S$480 nett in Japan, no freebies but with 3 years local warranty. I am going to get W5 in Singapore as it could be cheaper if there is promo(last promo S$510 nett with 256MB MS Pro/carrying case/2 batteries). Also, it is a hassle to send the camera to Japan for repair if anything goes wrong during the warranty period. Any idea what is the price of 1GB MS Pro? |

The 1gb MS Pro is about $400 plus leh
The earliest indication from Sony I guess would be during the first week of the PC Show i think 6 June that week. Need to check. Also will check what's the discount if we are gonna get the extra 512mb and 1gb.... Most likely extra 512. 1gb way too expensive. Almost the price of a W5. 3 years local warranty in Japan is good. Singapore's Sony should take the cue.... Which def says it's uniquely Singapore....
