errr, what about telling your BF "Get me one with a BIGGER Diamond" so my camera can focus better and take a better shot.

I presume that in the picture you posted, the ring is in it's case, sitting in the slot in the velvet cushion.

I am not sure of how to approach taking the picture of the ring myself, but for a start you can try using available light or a torchlight. Arrange the ring and the light and your camera angle, and take a picture when you see the lighting effects you want.

I presume you want to see at least the shape of the ring (with the "o") - at first look the diamond part gives a hint that it's a ring, but much of the "o" are in shadow (or in the slot?).

You can try taking out the ring and take different compositions of it too.

thanks.......u see, i tried different settings but still the pics are either over-exposed or under-exposed...could it be the flash or the lightings of the room?? me newbie, that's why....

as for the ring, it's a E grade colourless, round-brilliant cut diamond with .282 pointers..how about yours??? look nice...

i guess it's not so much abt the quality of the diamond, it's the thought that counts...

Shann...my settings is in this site.
Ring's Setting

Well...yep you can indeed shine a ray of light on the ring to get it's glow and sparkle but becareful you do not want it too be too bright. Diamonds can relfect lights very well...
I would suggust you use a tripod. The pic you took, the ring is seated in its box yeah? Well...You might wanna shot more of the ring and try to centralise it...(some dun like) You could then use Photoshop and blur the image like I did. But keep the Diamond in Focus! yeah?

Let us see your shots again?
Smile!
