Hi guys,
Yes, do any of you use the Fuji F810 I have one as a carry around p+s camera and I quite like it. Infact I was playing with it at work today, wondering what result I could get inside without using the flash hand held. It does quite well actually in A mode with ISO 400 and +/- adjustment. Not a bad camera at all I thought. Cheers.

About the only stupid thing about it is the macro mode, which is sad since I need the longer focal lengths to take regular pictures of my toenails. Last edited by kahheng; 28th March 2005 at 09:26 PM. |

May I ask why you say,"stupid macro mode" .... I thought the macro was quite good with this camera ! Would you please explain as to why you don't like it ??? Cheers ![]()

But all things considered, it was the camera that had the best specs for me when I got it. Hits: 1. Excellent high ISO performance - even 800 is perfectly good for a small sensor camera. 2. Very responsive - short shutter lag, fast (though not necessarily all the time accurate) focusing 3. Very useful wide format HDTV mode - this is great for group party photos 4. Extremely no frills, super straightforward operation, well planned direct access to functions and controls. (It's really no frills compared to my previous Canon S60) 5. Consistently excellent colour and exposure 6. Equal to about 8MP resolution at the best 12MP setting 7. And if you're crazy enough to shoot RAW with this P&S, the RAW images from this camera are stunning. Misses: 1. Macro only at the wide end - which dummy came up with this? It means that close up shots get you a lot more perspective distortion when you don't want it. 2. No contrast control (this doesn't bother me really) 3. AWB not the best - I don't use this often so it doesn't bother me too much. 4. NON STANDARD USB socket - the biggest annoyance if you ask me. I hate cradles and this camera comes with one. Yeech. I use a card reader to download. 5. Not the best lens - corners can be quite soft. I have been spoiled by Oly consumer cameras ;-) Still, it's really not that major a deficiency. In a world where every camera is a compromise, I can live with the deficiencies of this very capable camera. The E510 is practically the same camera and is tremendously good value if you ask me. I like the fact that it uses just 2 AAs. Last edited by kahheng; 28th March 2005 at 10:38 PM. |

Hi kahheng,
I will not argue with any of your points as I can agree with what you are saying. Personally I find it a good pocket camera, as such it works quite well for me. I don't compare it to my Fuji 602 or Canon 20D for serious shots; but as a P&S camera it does well. The 4x optical zoom is good and startup time is quick. The USB/cradle is neither here nor there to me. It does it's job. The fact that you have some control over it rather than Auto is good. I only use it at 6mp rather than going for the 12mp super CCD ability because I don't feel there is any benefit. . XD cards are getting better in price thought still not as good as SD. I was lucky as I was given a 512 XD card by Fuji Since the F810 came out, I am shure that there are many new cameras that put it to shame. But I have this one and am quite pleased with what it can do. Cheers
