I travelled with a nex5, 12mm, 21mm, 50mm, 135mm and they all fit into a pouch (thinktank skin chimp cage).

I ended up getting a NEX5N at WTS from one of the fellow clubsnapper! Totally enjoying the quality and weight of this new toy of mine (:

I travel with a DSLR. Thoguht of getting mirrorless, but seems like a bit of weight saving for less comfortable/quick shooting. Plus I have to carry my tripod anyways.

Different camera class... one had a smaller sensor (SX50) but much longer zoom another had bigger sensor but lesser zoom. Both are excellent cameras in their own class and depend on what you want, there are no one is better than the other.

Frankly, I have read some of your post... it was as if you are only interested in getting a system that can do the thinking for you and gave you excellent image quality without you having to do the slightest job. Let me tell you something... and sorry for being cruel - it ain't gonna happen. You can shoot in auto mode all you want, but with better cameras (larger sensor, more expensive stuff) all these can give you is the same crap except they might be sharper.

And I know that you are trying to shoot your active baby... well... you can get a 5DmkIII, D800, A95 or whatever cameras, if you don't know the fundamental of photography, all you get is sharp and high resolution crap.

Perhaps for you a DP1M for wide angles (detail seems insane from what I've seen) + the regular DSLR less WA lens.

But yeah, for me, fast DSLR response and handling, IQ, lower encumbrance, IMO, the K30 works very well. (cheap too)

For me... I carry my OMD most of the time (these days). It served its purposes. However sometime, I like my DSLR (7D) with me... depending on occassion and what I wanted to shoot, I will carry different camera to do the job. And frankly, although weigh did matter (I am not that young anymore), but sometime when you need a DSLR, you need a DSLR.

    Not going into a APS-C vs m4/3.
But, you need to see and try out the Pentax lenses yourself to appreciate how much smaller they are compared to those from most other DSLR makes. (esp. the DA lenses)
Build, size, optical characteristics, price, etc considered, + DSLR like handling and response + APS-C o/p, its still different and to me a better balance.
I do have a G3 with 3 small primes as well, but for teh above reasons, I still reach for the K30 more. (but thats me)
