Hi guys,
Just today, my 7D hangs like 3-4 times when playback review and zoom. It just won't zoom and hangs. I have no such problem with the old firmware but the new firmware seems to make this happen too often for me. I was shooting large with changes between fine and extra fine. Does anyone else face this problem too and solution to it? Regards, Don. ![]() |

Happens a few times to me too. The good thing is that it doesn't corrupts the data, and still writes the files nicely.
It happens to me when I'm playing with the review a lot (outing with colleuges, everyone wanna see the pictures senario). Didn't happen when during my normal routine of shoot view, shoot view tho.. No idea what's wrong. Think it happens more often with my Lexar than the Hagiwara... Drukh, what card were you using? |

Haven't had a chance to kill the camera yet but I was doing extensive reviewing lat night (cos testing flash exposure and WB) the camera didn't hand on me once... played for about 30 mins almost non-stop with the review mode.

For the old firmware, only hung once when I press review button too early after taking a shot, while it was still writing the image to the CF card. |

Wondering whether the CF card is old or new one. Support high speed or not as huge size been use on DSLR. Maybe problem due to the card, try another one?

In fact one of the staff at John 3:16 mentioned that the Dynax 7D has the lowest complaints or in fact no complaints about small quality control issues like power switches not working, etc.... so it's unusual that u can get the 7D to hang.... if u leave the hanged camera for a while does it get back to normal?

I also noticed that with the old firmware, the number of frames remaining showed instantly, whereas the new firmware will display --- for 2 seconds before showing the number of frames remaining.
One thing I forgot to mention is that, I seldom switch off the cam and leave it on standby after 1 minute (power save). |

Hmmm... After upgrading with the new firmware, the camera also takes slightly longer for it to read my 1 gb card, shows the --- for less than a second.
The problem is that I can't get the 7D to hang again. And for me, when it hanged back then, it still respond to the on/off switch and there's no red blinking CF acess, just no screen and no response. Hmm... |

2. press the lever to release batt(s) 3. push them back in 4. ready to shoot again. *note that i did not switch off the cam using the on/off switch. the above actions took me 3 secs. ![]() Last edited by Drudkh; 28th March 2005 at 05:25 PM. |

OT:
AH Drukh, you forgot some steps: 1) shout: IA! IA! IA! (Or replace with appropriate abbreviations like SM! System malfunction... But screaming SM on the street could cause unwanted attention, so maybe you can think of something better) 2) Take cover 3) Open Battery door 4) Eject chemi-electric power supply 5) Reinsert chemi-electric power supply 6) Pray that CF card is not FUBAR-ed 7) Check Frames remaining 6) reposition to firing position 7) Engage target |

For me it occurs only when zooming into files of Large & Extra Fine setting. It probably occurs 1 out of 5 or 10 zoomings. Same thing, got to do the battery out IA drill to get the cam to shoot again. At Fine setting it doesn't seem to happen. Wonder whether KM is aware of this problem. Good one on the IA drill! ![]() |
